Student giving shot

Welcome!

The Department of Nursing, provides nursing education to meet community needs. The nursing program is committed to providing high quality associate degree nursing education with a mission to educate nurses who use critical thinking to solve problems; who appreciate diversity; who demonstrate high standards of professional practice; and who are caring, informed, accountable, creative and articulate decision-makers.

Since 1964, LSU Alexandria has offered the Associate Degree in Nursing and has graduated almost 3,000 students. The program is approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing. Graduates are eligible as applicants to write the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). The program boasts a success rate on the NCLEX-RN of above 95 percent for first-time takers, and 100 percent for those attempting the exam a second time. These results are well above both state and national averages.
